My condolences to Pisy. For his awesome Astig PC crashed.

I'll put a tribute later.

Sip, I hope you get it fixed soon. School is fast approaching. And life will be hell without it.

And no. This isn't my blog for today. I just wanted to post this message. =)

And I broke my resolution of posting something for each and everyday that has passed this year of the goat 2003. I missed out on posting yesterday. A sort-of family reunion prevented my evening plans of posting/updating this site. *sigh* Things don't usually work out the way you want it, and I guess you just have to compensate or compromise and make do with what you can.

So I'm not really at a loss here, cause I wrote it down on paper yesterday... (So I could just copy it and upload my stuff faster without having to think about what I really want to write. Nifty me. Oh wow.) And even though it was such a marvelous non-repeating date yesterday 01.04.03 I know this post will come out as 01.05.03. But anyway..... the point is, this was for yesterday's un-posted post.

Play on...play on...

The highway is usually a boring, monotonous, speedy (more on the wreckless type of motor-speed) place with nothing much to entertain you but cars - that is if you're this overhyped car afficionado finding so much fascination with all the cars in the high-way or the lack of it.
But what if you're not some car afficionado? You're stuck for long on this stretch of gray matter (with traffic jams as a constant) with an unproductive mind wandering the area of its space, trying to make something creative happen... trying to make a story out of the journey.

Usually, I don't create or find a "highway" story so I sleep... but for some unexplained reason I stayed awake the whole travel time completing (rather conquering) the stretch of dead land to actually finding amusement and earn a place for an anecdotal dose here in my blog...
Why! The South Super High-way today contains these metal placards, with two lines of a poem each placard! And the poem on the placards is the childhood classic and favorite... the monumental: Trees by Joyce Kilmer

Can I say "Moving Poetry" without sarcasm? Or even "Poetry in Motion for that matter. It highly amused me. It was like a manually projected credits line at the end of the movie, only that you're in the car moving toward it to read it! I wanted to finish "reading" the poem so I stayed awake for that whole high-way. Just to read the two lines in those 20 or so metal placards that were placed along the side of the whole SSH(South Super High-way) route from Bicutan to the bridge prior to EDSA.

Creatively fascinating. An interesting campaign really!
You can actually play Spot the Placards and Finish the Poem game!

Politicians really have a way of charming their public. (And for the first time, I was charmed.) Not Bad Senator Loren Legarda. Good campaign for the Greening Movement!

...Poems are made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree.

I've sort of revamped my website. I've twisted the color schemes around, as I found the black background too sharp. (Although I think my fingers are too slow for my brain as I have changed the background without changing my introductory text telling the people about how sick I am of the black background, and how I'm once again considering white... but then I settled in the middle... yep my background's now gray)

Anyhow, there are poems in my poem section already... the latest ones... not from the old basket. Instead the 2002 editions, the latest poems I've written. Slowly *thank heavens!* this website is finally taking shape. Hehe.

Feel free to browse around and please don't forget to sign my guestbook! Or even just click this nifty sign by the left part of this blog that says Shout Outs & sign it and make someone called Mitzi happier for the day!

Alrighty?!!!!

Hasta Luego!

I hope Filipinos everywhere else in the world are reading this, especially the ones who haven't gone home in ages.

The Philippines has changed. It has been long declared a republic, thus creating the new name of Republic of the Philippines. Call us the Banana Republic because our economy is saging. Or call us the country that never learned even with 3 revolutions, the 3rd one was more of a mockery.... but please, never call us PI.

The title of Philippine Islands (PI) has been long dead and gone. Please, by all means, update your vocabularies because we are not known by that name anymore. We are 'Pinas. We are Pinoys. We are RP's. We are PH's (after the dot com of our emails) but never PI's!!!

It ticks my nerves to hear people abroad, especially in the States asking me "So, how's the PI?"
I literally stop dead on my tracks for a few seconds trying to figure out what exactly the question means. Is it an insult to my own mother? Or are you refering to something else?

Just so you know, here in the Philippines, PI means something really bad. It's a cuss word, and by norms not regularly used. If you still don't get it - PI means P*tang Ina. There.

So please, we are a Republic, more than a PI.

Things change here, and it is better to get the terminologies right, before someone socks your face out if they don't understand what you mean.

hehe.

The first time I wrote this, this blog was longer. For a reason I still do not know, I wasn't able to save it and I had to write a new one. (I hate it when that happens) But what's done is done, and it's the new year. So this is my 2nd try. And though it's a far cry from my original essay, I think this will have to do.

My Personal New Year's Resolutions

1. I have realized that although I am a forgiving person, I don't easily forget. This habit of unforgetfulness is not healthy as it brings about grudges, anger and even hatred toward others. I do not want to be a hypocrite anymore: saying that I forgive when I do not forget. It's heavy baggage, and I am tired of hurting others because of what I hold against them, as well as hurting myself more by not forgeting.

2. I will need to swallow a lumpful of my pride to make my #1 resolution happen. I should strip myself of the negative memories that I contain, and instead fill it up with patience, kindness, love and positivity to achieve the peace within and outside.

3. I will learn to love the people around me more. Not that I don't love them, but I just feel that I don't love them enough, or show them the sincerity and concreteness of my love.

4. I will learn to accept things just because. I will once again find that child in me and accept things as they come. I will not be over critical toward things to the point of spit and sarcasm. I will no longer be sarcastic. As I have realized that sarcasm is the voice of the weak. And this includes me cutting down on my hurt and my swear words.

5. I will learn to love myself more: Accept me for me, and somehow be less hard on myself.

6. I will strengthen my spirituality this year. I admit that for the last year I have lost a lot of my faith to my God due to many distractions and preachings that say this and that about God. This year, I will find Him in my own way... I will learn how to pray once again.

7. Finally, I will do all these. I will do all these. :)

Happy New Year everybody!

Ok, ok.... I'm too pressured to post something really nice and worthwhile here (and I decided to write my real nice stuff tomorrow January 1st of 2003 so that my internet bill wouldn't pop my mom's eyes out! hehe!)

so before the good year of 2002 ends, I'd like to say that the year was beautiful amidst its imperfections. Whatever happened: calamity or victory taught all of a us lessons which we will continually learn in the years to come.

So to all my family, friends and loved ones... Have a wonderful new year!

Welcome 2003!

Today was the most unbelievable day.

First thing that greets me when I awoke was a hyperventilation attack, that lasted for over 30 minutes. It was the longest attack I've ever had and believe me I wouldn't want it repeated ever.

My muscles contracted and I had no power over my movements. To make things worse, my muscles started cramping. It was extremely painful. I was screaming so loud. I was panicking. My legs, feet, arms and fingers were contorting and I thought it'll never return to their normal positions and movements.

anyway.... I still feel minor pains all over my body but at least I feel so much better now compared to before.

I hope and pray this never happens to me in a public place. tsk.tsk.
